A strategic investment to strengthen ABYSSA's autonomy
This acquisition marks a major milestone in the company’s capacity expansion to advance ocean science and responsible exploration of the underwater environment.
« This is a particularly agile tool for meeting the growing needs of seafloor mapping. This investment reflects our ambition to continue our growth in the French and international markets » Guillaume Lathelize, CEO of ABYSSA.

An autonomous, agile, and versatile underwater drone
The platform will carry various types of sensors, including a side-scan sonar (SSS), a multibeam echo sounder (MBES), a magnetometer, and a high-definition camera. This equipment is used to collect data essential for characterizing the seafloor, studying its environment, and conducting hydrographic and geophysical surveys.
In addition, ABYSSA has also acquired a USBL acoustic positioning system from SONARDYNE, which is also distributed by CADDEN.
This combination of technologies opens up new possibilities for ABYSSA, both in terms of deployment flexibility and the variety of missions that can be undertaken.
A Technology Partnership to Advance Ocean Exploration
As the distributor of ecoSUB Robotics and SONARDYNE solutions in France, CADDEN supports the adoption of cutting-edge technologies dedicated to underwater data acquisition.
The announcement of this contract during the CADDEN Technical Days on September 22 in Nantes underscores the shared commitment to promoting the integration of innovative solutions to support oceanographic expeditions.
We are very proud of this first collaboration with ecoSUB Robotics, Sonardyne, and ABYSSA. This initial contract demonstrates our commitment to being involved at every stage of our clients’ projects.
