Accompanied by Martin PATRIAT, marine geologist at Ifremer who was also invited to the show, the scientists discussed the sensitive issue of deep-sea mining.<\/p>\n<p>The surface area of the EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) of New Caledonia is 1.4 million km\u00b2. A very large maritime space where only 20% of the seabed has been mapped.
